I. The meeting was opened by Bill Bland at 7:35 p.m.

II. Declaration of Public Notice – Gary Schumacher confirmed that declaration of public notice of the meeting had been given.

III. Public Appearances – There were no public appearances.

IV. Minutes from the December 17, 2003 Meeting – Phil McDade moved to approve the minutes from the December 17, 2003 meeting. Kathy Bultman seconded. The minutes were approved as distributed

V. Discussion and Possible Approval of the Following Policies:

A. Board Policy 443.5 – Student Use of Paging or Two-Way Communication Devices – Bill Bland moved to forward the policy, as revised, to the Board for their approval. Phil McDade seconded. Motion passed.

B. Board Policy 531.9 – School-to-Career Coordinator Job Description – Bill Bland moved to forward the job description, as revised, to the Board for their approval. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed.

C. Board Policy 445 – Questioning of Students by Non-School Personnel – Kathy Bultman moved to forward the policy, as revised, to the Board for their approval. Phil McDade seconded. Motion passed.

D. Administrative Rule – 345.11 – Rank in Class – Tie Breaking Procedures for the Wisconsin Academic Excellence Scholarship – Phil McDade moved to forward this policy, as revised, to the Board for their approval. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed.

E. Board Policy 333 – Accommodating a Student’s Religious Beliefs – Teresa Adams moved to forward this policy to the Board for their approval. Phil McDade seconded. Motion passed.

F. Board Policy 354.1 – School Volunteers – Gary Schumacher reported that as suggested by the Committee, he presented this policy to the PTO’s and received positive comments from them. Kathy Bultman moved to forward this policy, as revised, to the Board for their approval. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed.

G. Board Exhibit 354.1 – Volunteer Application – Kathy Bultman moved to forward this exhibit to the Board for their approval. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed.

VI. Discussion of Board Policy 343.2 – Class Size – The policy was discussed and will remain unchanged.

VII. Other Agenda Items – There were no other agenda items.

VIII. Set Date and Time for Next Meeting – The next Personnel & Policy Committee Meeting will be held April 21, 2004 – 7:15 p.m. at the Nichols School District Office Board Room.

IX. Adjournment – Kathy Bultman moved to adjourn the meeting. Teresa Adams seconded. Motion passed. The meeting adjourned at 8:30 p.m.
